The Toxic Relationship Survival Guide is BACK!

You may have visited it a few years ago. I had just fled from my husband and was starting life over. My favorite therapy was to write about what I had experienced with my abusive husband. At the time, I didn't think anyone would care, but just in case my experience could help one person... I put my writings on a website by this name and used the alias Ava Prough. I was surprised at the interest and connection that happened with many readers over the next couple of years. You helped me in my healing journey by sharing your deeply private and painful stories of living with abuse and what you were doing to survive and move on.

Yes, I did take down The Tox Guide for awhile to recover from a deeply painful church abuse situation. But I'm back now - stronger than ever, more determined to speak up and facilitate change, and looking forward to meeting you and hopefully reconnecting with some of you from before! I hope the new and improved Guide will be a blessing and inspiration to you. And please check out the book I wrote, God Hates Abuse: Abuse and the Doctrine of Headship and Submission. You can read it for free!

I live in Colorado, am happily married to Kyle, and mom to three wonderful daughters. We love to camp, bike and ski and pretty much anything else that keeps us active outdoors.

I am the founder and Executive Director of God Hates Abuse Project, which is a non-profit organization committed to "shaping the future by removing religious misconceptions that prevent women and children from living fulfilling lives free from abuse." For more information visit www.godhatesabuse.org.

I’m also the founder of Butterfoot Life Coaching, LLC. My passion is to empower men and women who have experienced a toxic relationship to recognize their value and potential, identify their goals, and move toward their dreams. I help them intentionally create a meaningful life and thrive instead of tolerating their current situation. You can sign up for coaching with me on coach.me.

I hope you enjoy the articles and book, and that you will reach out and let me know what the toxic relationship is in your life and how you are dealing with it. Also, join the group on Facebook of like-minded people helping each other grow and thrive!
